100% Sangiovese from Mercatale Val di Pesa, Tuscany. Deep red with purple hints and notes of strawberry, curry, saffron, nutmeg and cloves. Wide, long and spicy on the palate. Named for the number 81, which has appeared again and again in the family's history. Aged 2 months in vat, 24 months in oak and 6 months in bottle; will develop for 15–20 years.
